When some people think of a technical side of the telecommunications industry - cables, wires and connectivity for example - they may not see it as a life-or-death field.
A major client base for Avaya, however, is comprised of health care providers. Avaya's specially designed health care communications products connect doctors, nurses, technicians and administrative staff with vital information and each other. One in particular allows messages to be sent to medical staff members through one number no matter where they may be - avoiding life-threatening delays that are possible when humans have to intervene in the process.
Considering that Tibs installs a number of Avaya's network solutions, it's safe to say that the family-owned and operated information technology and service company has played a role in saving lives.
Chris Lake, a senior technical manager for Avaya, says Tibs has certainly made an impact on Avaya and its customers. Clients also include companies in such industries as education, hospitality, manufacturing, transportation and financial services.
"We've been very satisfied with the work they've done," Lake says of Tibs' contributions, including its recent wiring of Avaya's new facility in Norcross. "We conducted a number of meetings to design the work for the new building, and Tibs was able to take our abstract thoughts and put them on paper... showing us what the solutions we needed were."
Lake also credits the company for being willing to do whatever it took to get the project done on time.
"They were able to work as needed to make the deadline," he says, "even when there was construction going on around them. They were also extremely efficient in installing the cable in such a way that it looked showroom-perfect."
Avaya's relationship with Tibs doesn't stop at the doors of the new facility. Tibs is also qualified to be a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) for Avaya, meaning Tibs also goes out and installs such top-of-the-line Avaya products as SYSTIMAX.
"When our customers have a need for connectivity solutions, they need a company who can help them design, install and test the product," Lake says. "Our partnership with Tibs allows us to have confidence that our cabling connectors will be set up correctly."
Lake says that another plus that comes with working with Tibs is the friendliness of Tibs executives like Mark Tibbets and Andrew Petkis.
"They're very personable," Lake says. "They're easy to work with and, in a lot of ways, I consider them friends."
