Tibs installs back-up generators for Decatur company 

Tibs installed a Cummins Onan^® Generator and a 37kVA Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system as a backup power source for the BioLab manufacturing facility in Conyers , Ga. The generator and UPS system work in tandem, in case of a power outage, to immediately supply auxiliary power to the company’s servers, computers and telephone systems.

This is the second back-up power system that Tibs has installed for BioLab. Earlier this year, the company installed a similar generator and UPS system in the BioLab communication center at its corporate headquarters in Decatur .

Having a back-up system for the company’s voice and data systems is critical, according to J. R. Lowe, BioLab Communications Manager, who oversees the company’s internal systems. “When you value customer service as much as we do, your customers and customer representatives must be able to contact you at all times,” he said.

The company’s need for a generator back-up was tested recently when Decatur experienced a main grid power outage, with the majority of the area without power for two hours. “Our systems were up and running the entire time, and our customers saw no difference in service. They didn’t even know that our whole area of the city was without power,” said Lowe.
