For Release: August 5, 2003 Gwinnett Rotary Joins Tibs Group for Blood DriveRotary and Tibs respond to local Red Cross blood shortageATLANTA, August 5, 2003 – The Gwinnett Rotary Club and Tibs Group™, a single source for electrical, utility and technology services, announced today that the two were hosting a Blood Drive for the Metro Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross on Thursday, August 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tibs Group headquarters, 3435 Martin Farm Rd., in Suwanee. “The local American Red Cross chapter issued a call last month for more blood donations because of summer blood shortages here and across the country,” said Todd Tibbetts, CFO for Tibs and a member of the Gwinnett Rotary Club. “By working together on this blood drive, Tibs and the Gwinnett Rotary hope to generate a large turnout of donors and add to the local blood supplies.” The American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be at the Tibs building from 11 to 4 p.m. with the last appointment scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Tibs Company Chaplain, Ralph Atkinson, and HR Manager, Cheryl Dillard, will coordinate donor registration and assist the Red Cross during the drive. To pre-register as a blood donor, send an email to cdillard@tibsgroup.com. “We are extending an invitation to all Suwanee area businesses as well as all Gwinnett Rotarians to participate in this blood drive,” said Tibbetts. “Our goal is to make this one of the best drives the Red Cross has had in our area for this year,” he said. To donate blood, one must be at least 17 years old, weight 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Blood donations help patients being treated for accidents, routine surgeries and serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease and hemophilia. Although Tibs has been sponsoring quarterly blood drives at their location since 2001, this is the first time that the Gwinnett Rotary Club has partnered with the company for a blood drive. “After 9/11, Tibs’ employees wanted some avenue to help as our country struggled with the disaster of the World Trade Center and Pentagon. It was at that point that Tibs began hosting American Red Cross blood drives at our office,” said Tibbetts.
