Gwinnett's high-tech appeal lures thirty-year-old DeKalb business to the growing county

Tibs Group Inc., a single-source provider of electrical services, power quality and technology solutions, will relocate to Gwinnett County after having its home office in DeKalb for nearly 30 years.

With more than 1,000 clients, Tibs serves some of the Southeast's largest high tech companies, including Lucent Technologies, Southwestern Bell, BellSouth, Hewlett Packard and a business partnership with Avaya Communication. The move to Gwinnett, which will take place in April, will bring Tibs to a county that is home to more than 575 technology firms.

"We know Gwinnett is a nerve center of technology and growth," says Mark Tibbetts, CEO of Tibs Group. "With so many businesses in this industry in the area, Gwinnett is a perfect fit for us."

The customized building located in Suwanee will quadruple the size of Tibs' current location. The plans for the unique structure have been in the works for nearly three years, and a groundbreaking was held Spring 2000.

In 1971, Marvin Tibbetts founded Tibs as an electrical contractor business. Growing with the ever-changing technology, Tibs has expanded its services to address power quality issues as well as computer networking needs.

In its 30 years of operation, Tibs has grown to more than 90 employees, but continues to be family-owned and operated, with customer service as a top priority. "We started out as service contractors," says Tibbetts. "Even though we're more project oriented now, service is still our number one goal."
