For Release: April 2, 2002 Tibs Group CEO takes top honor from Atlanta electrical contractors group ATLANTA, April 2, 2002 Mark Tibbetts, CEO of Tibs Group, Inc., a single-source provider of electrical services, power quality solutions, and technology solutions located in Suwanee, has been named Member of the Year by the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Atlanta chapter. Tibbetts selection as IEC Member of the Year was based on his guidance and leadership, according to Niel Dawson, executive director of the IEC Atlanta and Georgia chapters. Because of Marks guidance and determined efforts, our IEC chapter has a BICSI low voltage apprenticeship training program, and ours is the only one in the country that is BICSI certified, said Dawson. Tibbetts and a crew from the Tibs Group donated both time and materials to build a BICSI low voltage training lab at the chapters Atlanta headquarters. Tibbetts, who serves nationally on the IECs Low Voltage Apprenticeship Committee, also spearheaded efforts to get a Voice Data & Video Apprenticeship program in place nationwide, added Dawson. Once again, Tibs donated time and materials, sending a Tibs crew to IECs national office in Washington D.C. for work on the associations showcase technology room. Tibbetts award is the second recognition the company has received in the recent months from the IEC. In late 2001, Tibs Group employee Larry King, representing the Atlanta IEC, was selected from the nations 17,000 apprentices as the national IEC Electrical Apprentice of the Year. Tibbetts, who began his career at Tibs Group working during school breaks as an electrical apprentice, worked in estimating, engineering, project management and sales management before becoming CEO in 1996. He has served as a board member for the Independent Electrical Contractors Atlanta Chapter as well as a member and Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) with BICSI International.
